Dun Rig

Two of us had a great day out in the hills south of Peebles. Heading up the old drove road, we baked in the unexpected hot sun as we climbed to Kailzie Hill, Kirkhope Law, Birkscairn Hill and across Stake Law to Dun Rig, where we stopped for lunch. It was the clearest day I have had in the hills for a long time, with incredible long distance views in every direction. This is looking south-south-east across Ettrick Forest to the Cheviots and the Border.

Plans to include Hundleshope Heights to complete the Glen Sax Horseshoe had to be trimmed to make it back for supper, and we cut down to the Glen, enjoying beautifully cold drinks from the burn as we followed it down past Haystoun. I enjoyed a similar walk, but in the opposite direction, last May.
