Marx it out

Attending an international sociology conference in Buenos Aires I was struck just how core Marx is to the current teaching and thinking about the subject in Latin America. Traveling around the disparity between rich and poor, the norm right across the world in part helps explain this. At the conference book stall, the local publisher focused on Marx, socialism and sociological theory. The English language selection was largely cultural and identity driven. It does represent quite a yawning gap.
