Cologne - The Dom

It's almost impossible to give an accurate impression of the size of this outrageously enormous and pointy cathedral. 

A long day of driving - Dover-Calais then through Belgium (awful roads, even worse service stations, rubbish everywhere), Netherlands (for about 20 minutes) and then Germany. We arrived at Hotel Engelbertz which was almost within spitting distance of the Dom and right in the city centre. Then we headed over to the banks of the Rhine for some well deserved German refreshment and food. The city was crawling (literally by 11pm) with hen and stag parties doing the sorts of things they'll probably regret deeply the next morning.
