Bubbles by the Rhine
A delicious Continental breakfast - the proper kind with vast numbers of platters laid out with cheese and meat of all kinds, breads and the sorts of cereals that definitely don't come with a Kellogg's logo on them.
Before we set off on the second leg of the German road trip we wandered round the environs of the Dom again, were chased away by a scary German frau for taking pictures of her bakery and politely hassled for spare Euros by a very unwell looking homeless person (who Z sadly identified as an injecting heroin addict). Down by the Rhine a family had set up shop producing bubbles of various sizes to entertain passers by. The local Polizei weren't very impressed and moved them on in a rather more forceful way than perhaps the situation justified.
Later we stopped at Bad Salzuflen for a top lunch at an Eiscafe before arriving in Proitzer Muhle in time to unpack the bikes, have a beer and then find old friends and meet this year's first timers. The Mill kitchen staff had laid on some stupendously memorable first night food - all local, mostly organic, lots of vegetarian provision and all delicious.
