Lights Out
Day 4 and we have arrived in Irkutsk where we send one night before continuing on our way. We arrived at 7.30 in the morning, which was really 2.30am Moscow time. Now here is the hard bit, we were on that train for 74.5 hours and went through five time zones. We told ourselves that we would shift our body clocks forward an hour or two each day, but that did not really happen. Anyway, we pile up i the morning here in Irkutsk and have an apartment booked for the night. Most places do not let you check in at that time in the morning and this was no different. However, being an apartment, there no reception or anything else, but we did meet the landlord who put our bags in his car for or later check in time at 1pm. Fools, I here you say, but it was legit. He did actually give us keys, so when we did turn up at about two, we could let ourselves straight in, and yes, the bags were there.
Given we had time to kill we went for a wander and covered a fair bit of town, and had time for a couple of coffees. However these grand old floodlights at Trud Stadium took my eye, and this is not the only photo I took. We spent a few more days in Irkutsk later, but I never had the change to see these beauties lit up.
