Pictish standing stone

Another good Tuesday so another outing on the bike, this time to the north side of the Sidlaws.
I put the bike in the car and drove over the hills and then took minor roads in the Vale of Strathmore. I noticed a sign to "Pictish Stone" back the way I'd come and returned a bit to find it (which I did with the help of a local) - though it was actually very obvious if you looked in the right direction.
You can just see a cup and ring marking half way up and the faint lines of an animal at the top.
Then on to Newtyle (sausages bought from the well-known butcher), Meigle and MacBeth's Stone at Belmont (said to have lots of markings but I couldn't see any). The way back was through the villages of Ardler and Kettins, the latter having a green and should have had a pub!
The extras are the church gate in Kettins and the view over the Vale of Strathmore from the top road.
This afternoon was in the garden, sewing and weeding.
