Crammond

Whay hey! A day without a visit to the hospital. I went for a walk first thing up around the reservoirs enjoying the early morning sun which did not last as there was rain in the late morning afternoon and late evening.

Our first destination was Crammond to visit the Jennifer Thomson Gallery, http://www.jenniferthomson.com an artist specialising in colourful scenes of Edinburgh and the East Neuk of Fife. She's an artist that Susan follows so it was good to see her paintings in the flesh and speak to her as well. The rain cleared as we had a little stroll along the River Almond.

Lunch was at Miller and Carter, a steakhouse at Crammond Brig, we were there a good few hours while the rain poured down outside. From Crammond we eventually drove into Edinburgh for the one event at the Fringe - at the BBC Big Blue Tent at George Herriot's School in view of the Castle.

A very good venue, nicely laid out with seats, heaters (not effective in the windy conditions). We were there to see and participate in a recoding of Global Beats for the World Service. Tonight's programme focussed on an extensive range of Scottish music from rock to folk and traditional music to a Pole who now lived in Scotland and a cheerful extroverted fellow from Uganda who had linked up with a musician from Glasgow.

A great evening's entertainment.
