... or Left Hand Down a Bit!

Master H, his sister Miss C, Grandpa and I enjoyed a day at the Historic Dockyard today. I was a bit concerned about H's intentions here, given the background - haha!! We had the full self-guided tour of HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose, plus with a year's ticket will probably return next week for more.

Master H asked oodles of questions about the ships, how elements of them worked and about the history. It is quite remarkable how some of the Mary Rose relics survived five centuries underwater. As an example, a silk coif, quite intact was unbelievable condition.

HMS Queen Elizabeth, the first of the QEC aircraft carriers arrived in dock earlier in the day. It flies the defaced blue ensign from its stern - otherwise known as the service ensign, signifying that its on contractor trials, in preparation for entry into operational service.

See the extra photos for another shot of the ship and of one of its predecessors of 500 years ago!
