North-South Divide
This is the River Trent at one of it's wide points. Our friend Ian told us this is the original North South divide. I loved the sheep in the field in the distance, and the swans on the river. I have to thank G for this picture.
We have had a super day today. Very easy journey up to Nottingham; it took exactly three hours. Ian & Barbara were waiting for us and ready to go for lunch. As it was warm and sunny, we asked if they'd like a ride out anywhere, so they showed us a church they looked after in Mapperly, and then Ian pointed us to the river.
Back to their home, and their friends Richard and Shirley (see extra) joined us for a catch up. Great to see them again, and I really hope it isn't the last time, as they have no immediate plans to leave the North.
And the journey home was pretty spectacular too. Not just because there isn't a single traffic light from Woodborough to Farley Green (at least not on the route we were on), but we had the most incredible lighting thanks to the clouds and the sun setting just so. I was driving, so couldn't capture it; G tried. And despite a big chunk of 50mph roadworks and torrential rain in some parts, we were home in 2hrs45mins and never stopped once. :D
Now THAT'S how to design a road system.
