Birth Order and Risk-taking
Evan and Bella spent the day with me, and Bella is having a sleep-over, so I will make this brief. When I first took Bella to the Chinese Garden, she was hesitant to try the water-painting, but she gradually came to enjoy it. Evan, having her as a model, leapt immediately into it. Then as we were walking to the streetcar, Bella showed him how to make the Benson Bubblers shoot out a stream of water. It took her a couple of years to get the idea; he got it in one lesson. (See extras.) Having a brave elder sister seems automatically to increase the risk-taking of the second born.
