Afternoon downpour
Thursday
I had an appointment first thing, then came home for a coffee, and was planning to go to the "Y" for a swim in the outdoor pool in the afternoon, however as you can see the weather had other ideas! So instead, I stayed home and did a few jobs and some knitting.
Our youngest daughter is now in Kuwait, embarking on this new phase in her life adventure! She flew yesterday from Bucharest, via Amsterdam, and arrived safely in Kuwait about 9.30 at night, but minus all her checked baggage - 4 items! She was really anxious this morning, as Tarom in Bucharest and KLM in Amsterdam were both denying any knowledge of them! However, later in the afternoon she checked the website and they miraculously appeared to have found two items and said they would be on tomorrow's flight! Fingers crossed! Apart from the luggage, she was very impressed with her welcome on behalf of the school. She (and two others on the same flight) was met at the gate by a representative to see them through immigration, luggage reclaim (or not!) and customs, then once through the formalities they were greeted by a welcome group from the school, and escorted to their apartments - all arranged and paid for by the school! She was amazed by the apartment - 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, all furnished, and a very well equipped kitchen. There was a welcome basket of assorted food items and toiletries on the table, and the fridge was stocked with various basics - they certainly seem to have thought of everything!
