Last BBQ?
It's that time of year when the first morning light fog and very dewy grass start and doubts start about when autumn will arrive.
On Wednesday I had been in Memmingen in the arly morning to have a first meeting with a new income tax accountant. Due to now having started a "business" by putting PV panels on the roof, we are just like any other business required to complete VAT returns monthly. Our previous tax people only do private people with no business.
It's all a bit over the top but we fall in to a category that doesn't require us to be a full blown limited company but many of the rules are the same. We as private people, have to pay tax on the "Benefit" of using our businesses assets - the electricity. But we can offset all the costs associated with the procurement, installation, maintenance and running as well as reclaim the VAT paid.
While in Memmingen, I went to the pool shop and bought fresh supplies of chlorine and acid but this time bought smaller amounts in anticipation of he season end and additionally bought the materials to do the winter protection treatment of the pool.
Today was though unbelievably hot. At one stage around midday I saw the temperature on the terrace at 34°C and the sweat was pouring off me just from sitting in the shade. The weather forecast says a massive storm heading towards us with real danger of flooding and landslides and due around 8:00pm. The days ahead would be cool it went on to say.
So early evening lit the BBQ coals and headed to the pool for perhaps a final dip. The water is at 30°C and thus at the minimum I need. If it gets cooler this could be the last time.
BBQ went extremely well - aubergine, potatoes, pork for Angie and a wonderful Rib-Eye steak for me which I had carefully guarded from Luna's jaws.
Then the storm came and it initially lived up to expectations. Pulled the BBQ under the terrace roof and when it had quietened down a bit, popped on a banana with brown sugar and rum and then let it slip down with a portion of pouring cream....
Perhaps summer might still return.
