Ruby Wedding party (surprise!)
Tomorrow is Gwen and Chris' Ruby Wedding Anniversary. They were married when they were 23 and the photos from then show just how young they looked.
Their daughters, Katy and Jo, organised a surprise party and brought together friends and family from the past and present. We all had to assemble early and the party was already very loud by the time the chief guests arrived.
They genuinely had no idea and were both gobsmacked and thrilled. Gwen kept introducing people to each other and explaining how she knew them and for how long.
I know them because they are walkers. They came first to a walking festival and then graduated to walking with us on Wednesdays. Gwen does that, but Chris will join us when he retires next month.
Gwen always has two tiny Tiggers (from Winnie the Pooh) in her back pack pocket. One nearly lost his life a few months ago when a horse neatly pulled him out and held him in his mouth before dropping him in the mud. Tigger survived. If you look closely at my photo, you will see both Tiggers in the backpack.
The pub staff managed to provided this small knife for cutting the cake. Why Chris stuck in in vertically after the ritual cut, I have no idea. You can see the happy couple and their girls in my extra.
