Eurostar
Backblipping again - after a whirlwind few days in Amsterdam :)
We got up fairly early this morning, and packed in a reasonably relaxed fashion. Got ourselves over to St Pancras, and caught the Eurostar to Brussels, then a connecting train to Amsterdam. We bought our GVB tickets there (and Tim helped a woman to buy hers too, as the touchscreen only seemed to recognise big man fingers and not delicate lady ones).
Then caught the metro to Amstel station and checked into our very lovely hotel there, Hotel V. The woman checking us in offered a glass of champagne as it was their first 'birthday,' so I casually mentioned that it was my birthday yesterday and our anniversary tomorrow - and all of a sudden she told us we'd been upgraded to their best room. Result! It was so beautiful - as my friend later commented on Facebook: "mid-century fit!"
After quite a long day of travelling, we decided not to try and do too much this evening, so we relaxed in the room for a while, and popped out to a very handily located Lidl nearby to stock up on a few drinks and snacks - and then went down to the bar for a couple of drinks and some very tasty Dutch bar food :)
