Princess of the Night

Here's a rather nice looking Night-blooming Cereus flower. It's one of two of these plants living in our back yard. Managing a decent photo of the bloom of these flowering ceroid cacti is tricky business. They bloom only at night and give little indication of their intentions the day before. The flower begins to wither as the morning light breaks and if one dawdles too long at breakfast one will totally miss the event. FireSpike is hanging out admiringly in the background.
