The Climb to Catbells

This path is the first part of the celebrated Newlands Round, which starts by ascending the ridge which leads to the first main peak - Catbells. This view looks back along the ridge with Skiddaw on the skyline, Bassenthwaite Lake (left) and Derwent Water (right). There is swathes of heather on the fells at the moment, but it prefers to grow at a higher level where it takes over from the bracken seen at lower levels (as here).
