Bussing it

Following yesterday's planning meeting with Nigel, set off to Ottobeuren in the morning for the dog walk in the cool of the Bannwald forest with it's abundance of cool running streams.

Flash was not in good form yesterday and I had serious doubts as to whether he would survive the day. The sunny weather is now also getting warmer and 30°C+ due in a day or two  Today he made an excellent impression, dashing out with me and Luna in the morning to collect the horses from a field outside the property.

So the Bannwald which is anyway his favourite walk was ideal and indeed he did extremely well and even enjoyed a cool down in the stream..

Driving home passed the private Bus company in Ottobeuren who run all the local bus services (few) but also a huge fleet of minibuses to do the school runs from all the small outlying villages and hamlets. Our village is actually served by one of their big "bendy buses" (like at airports). All the mini-buses in the photo are brand new Ford Transits being fitted out with the company logo. Around the other sides there are a whole heap more as well as many of the old VW Transporter buses which are being got rid of. A result of VW's diesel criminal deceit?

Sadly the company doesn't rent out any of it's buses for self drive. Shame as I need one on Sunday when they will anyway not be in use.

So in our village went to the local garage who has a vehicle or two to hire. After a bit of dealing and phoning around, I am promised a 9 seater for Sunday and with air conditioning as the temperature is due to be at it's hottest and seven of us are planning several hours of driving about.
