The Albesila Luminarium
The newly refurbished Piece Hall in Halifax was very, very busy today in the Bank Holiday week-end sunshine. The main attraction being the Albesila Luminarium.
After queuing for most of the afternoon you could 'walk through an air lock into this peaceful, inflatable, artistic experience renowned for being “a sanctuary for the senses”. You could become immersed in a kaleidoscope of changing colour and light.
It is a maze of interconnected paths, 27 stunning domed areas of complete immersion in different colours and geometric patterns inspired by Islamic art leading to a magnificent Main Dome “where an intricate weave of illuminated seams creates a constellation of stars spiralling upward to the heavens”. (All this according to their publicity material).
I saw the queue and decided to forgo the experience :-)
