A spacious quiet beach

The children slept well, and we were off out by 9.15. We spent the day on the beach while their parents went up the Shard in London for a cocktail and bought themselves a picnic at Borough Market Before going to the party tonight.

Sh don't tell - we have some stunning beaches in Northumberland. We don't often get the weather but today the breeze was from the west so we were sheltered by the dunes. However the tide was so far out, and they ran so fast that we couldn't keep up. They were soon splashing in the sea. It was a lovely day - they played in pools, made a castle and played at being Moana and Maui. Nathaniel found a stick which was the Hook. Their imaginative play is fun to watch, and so is listening to their general chat. However they wind each other up in the car which is very exhausting.

They played calmly in the house when we got back, we had fish and cabbage and potatoes for tea, then a bath. Nathaniel has had a story and is now "reading" it to himself. Ella is getting a little bit of TV before bed. I won't be far behind her!
