fields of gold...

...well lemon may be a better descriptive.

Today we packed up the van and headed east to Beverley one of the earliest settlements of  European colonisation of Western Australia..and yes named for Beverley, a market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire England.
This may be while the word 'Dale' features so widely.

Fields of canola crop are literally glowing neon in the landscape.
The name 'canola' is an acronym formed from 'Canada oil low acid' and a new 1970s name for a variety of the  plant 'rape' (Latin for turnip) originally grown for 'rapeseed oil'.
The original 'rape' was high toxic 'euric acid' and banned by the FDA for human consumption in 1956 and  Canadians growers bred a new variety.

Beverley with a main street chockers with art deco buildings, a country store arcade (extra) and yes a geodesic dome (for another time!) is closed on a Sunday apart from a cafe for a coffee and a diner.
We set up the van for lunch (extra) within cooooeeee of the little church of 'St John's in the Wilderness' on a perfect spring day...with no flies!
