End of the big heat

Today is to be the last day of the canicule (heatwave), bringing an end to days of mid to high 30s.  Rain is forecast for overnight.  So today may have been the last big day for the butterflies.  The Peacock variety seem to have taken over from little spotted orange Pearl Fritillaries, they were everywhere today.  Perhaps they sense the arrival of the rain.
