A small fire ...
My garden has been pretty much of a washout this year - except, it must be said, for the plants that were doing their thing when we bought the house over 40 years ago; rain seems to have little effect on them. But the border I save for planting new bedding plants has flooded several times, so the wee soft plants in it are merely draggled smudges of colour, and everything else is ... well, green.
Except for this single pot of lilies. I bought them with the groceries several weeks ago, when they were just green jaggies in a pot, planted them in a bigger container, and went off and left them. And now they're bursting out in this wonderful flame colour and they're short (about 8") so the wind doesn't destroy them and they cheer me up. And as there was nothing else in today that was either photogenic or cheering, this is them.
One of them anyway.
