Wetter by Farr
We have been working up and east today at Farr. This area enjoys a considerably better climate than Lochaber.
Bucking the trend it was a right miserable day of constant rain. It never actually stopped just changed from big heavy droplets to fine (very wetting) breeze blown mist. The latter variety is actually worse for our optical survey kit because the fine mist forms an impenetrable layer of tiny droplets on lenses and prisms.
We got soaked.
Driving back we came past Stronaba and down the hill in to Spean and the roads were dry. At home I commented to Mhairi about how much our local roads had dried and she advised that Lochaber hasn't seen rain at all today!
Today's exercise was one of those mission impossible jobs with little time to spare so I have very little by way of blip material.
The afore mentioned fine misty rain has the ability to coat long hillside grass with millions of tiny drips. I often try to get a picture of this phenomenon at home but as soon as I crouch down with the camera Caley jumps across in front and a thousand drips are shaken to the ground and the effect is lost.
Anyway in Caley's absence I did get this hasty snap to convey the idea. If you stand up and view this from ten paces back the tops of the grassy vegetation all look white.
I'm looking for less wet tomorrow on the next Farr site.
