A woodland wander
Cloudbase was about balcony level today, so we had an admin morning and a lazy lunch, but eventually the lure of outdoors was too much.
Up at Le Bettex the rain was only intermittent, and the woods are deep, so we wandered a while.
If I understand the local rules then the fungi gathering season doesn't start until the second Sunday of September. It's easy to see why it's such a local tradition, the woods are a carpet of emerging mushrooms.
A couple of years ago now I did a guided foraging walk with a local Accompagnateur who taught me the rule of threes - one for me, one for you (the next person along), one for the forest, simple age-old wisdom, perhaps why these woods are so rich?
These obviously are poisonous, but they are also the prettiest.
