Great spangled fritillary

It was sunny and warm today- and another banner butterfly day. Cabbage whites, fiery skippers and a large beautiful yellow swallowtail started off the afternoon  sightings. The great spangled fritillaries showed up a little later in the day -actually 2 of them though not at the same time. How do you know there were 2 different ones then? Ah , the first was noticeably larger than the second. The red admiral did not stay long enough to have his photo taken , but was the WOW of the day.
 And , what would a sunny day be like without those teasers the hummingbirds? Yes, they have done it again - too far away and in low light situations for anything good to be captured on film. I think this is a pattern here.
