Aikerness (Day 852)
When I wrote my blip last night, I was pretty sure that I would be trundling off to Stromness to do a job this morning. As it turned out, that wasn't to be and after a pleasant enough wander up the hill with the woofers, I found myself at a bit of a loose end.
I cleared out the van, then cleaned out our boiler, neither job having been done for a while. After coffee with my beautiful wife, I got up the ladder and sorted out a bit of leaking guttering which has been annoying me for a while. A phone call from a customer meant that there was work to do in the afternoon.
After lunch, HV and I had a wander out at Aikerness where we had the beautiful beach all to ourselves. The colours and view were spectacular as usual, and I couldn't really make up my mind between two shots today.
Back home, I zoomed into town to collect bits for the job, then out to Evie where I was to fit an outside tap. It should have been an easy enough job, except the customer had no idea where to switch off the water. I spent a while looking both inside and outside. The only thing I achieved was to attract massive swarms of bastard midges. I employed black magic to allow me to cut into a pipe without switching off the water, then spent a while being eaten alive by midges outside. It is a long time since I have been so badly bitten. The little blighters managed to bite the inside of my nose, my lips and even under my clothes. It was unpleasant. Fingers crossed there will be fewer midges tomorrow morning when I have another outside tap to fit.
