mid air mating

spent some time this afternoon watching some very saucy dragonflies darting around mating and laying eggs...

this is the bit after the mating... the chap is at the front the lady is behind... the chap dunks his lady into the water and guards her whilst she lays her eggs... However, this seems to go wrong from time to time as I had to rescue two drowning dragonflies that had waterlogged wings, that had not been able to pull themselves out of the water...

I fished them out with a big leaf, and they were totally fine once they'd dried out...
