Today's the day ......................... for amateur dramatics

The Scottish accents were toe-curling - but the performance tonight of The 39 Steps  at Carnforth Station by the Ad-Hoc Theatre Co was a triumph.

There were only four actors - so they had to get their heads round the portrayal of multiple parts.  Well at least, three of them did.  The main character, Richard Hannay, stayed steadfastly as himself - and played the part so convincingly that we felt sure he must have been just like that in normal life.

The plot of the play followed (loosely) that of the film - but as it was billed as being a comedy thriller '......where Hitchcock meets hilarious'  - there was never any danger of it taking itself too seriously.  A thoroughly enjoyable evening ......................
