Naked Ladies!

The often seen Colchicum with their big pink leafless flowers are often referred to as Naked Ladies as well as 'Autumn Crocus'.  True Autumn Crocus are smaller, like their spring flowering cousins and often have leaves present at flowering time.  Today's offering is in fact leafless at flowering time, as suggested by it's Latin name, Crocus nudiflorus.  Native to the Pyrenees, it's quite tolerant of UK growing conditions and has become naturalised in a few locations associated with sites of former monasteries.  

A quiet day for Jamie - we overdid it at the weekend.  He'll soon be back on track and I got a lot of jobs done at home while he was resting.
