Pompeii (Back Blip)

This shots shows a part of the ruins with Vesuvius looming in the background.
The eruption buried Pompeii in AD 79 and the city is believed to have been founded in the 7th Century BC. It was incredible to wander amongst these ruins with the beautiful frescoes and mosaics still remaining. I did ask our guide if the mountain was monitored for any movements and he said it was continually monitored and that there was an evacuation plan! I did wonder how they planned to get the thousands of locals and tourists out in a hurry but tried not to think about that possibility.
