back to the future
This morning I was up at Dunscore Church, taking photos. These are the "after" photos. Over the past three years much work has been done, applying for grants, carrying out surveys, writing plans, conducting audits, obtaining permissions, fundraising, organising open days, researching history and designing a heritage centre with associated media, publicising, dealing with complaints and petitions, liasing with architects, builders and electricians, a great deal of clearing and cleaning, preparing for a service of rededication with a meal and concert to follow...and then there is still the final submission of accounts, reports and a full photographic record to be done by the end of October.
So many people have worked so hard on this project, many of them for hours of voluntary effort. Now at last we have a church which is weathertight and safe, and a flexible and light-filled space, too. In a few weeks' time the Heritage Centre will be open to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of the church and the village and the story of Jane Haining.
