With HarryJ at the Rancher's Restaurant

What a day! The trip across the Rockies started today following the couple of days in Vancouver. It was only a shot hop to Chilliwack to meet up with people: HarryJ a fellow blipper and Raymas and Nalla, people we had not seen since 1987. I'd met Raymus while teaching in Ontario in 1981-82, we'd caught up with him on our first visit back in 1987 but since then have only kept in touch by Christmas cards.

It took a little while to get the RV sorted ready to go, especially getting the water pipe off and the waste waste water disposed. Then there was a visit to the supermarket to buy supplies and the enviable indecision about what we needed and invariably missing something out. Also a visit to a mobile phone shop to buy a temporary SIM (which was partly successful)

Then it was off to meet HarryJ at the Rancher's Restaurant which was an exceedingly pleasant experience, talking about a whole manner of things in a short space of time before Harry had to move off to his next appointment. There was only one possible candidate for today's blip.

We retraced our steps back to Chilliwack to meet up with Raymas and Nalla. That took a little time as the Rancher's Restaurant didn't have wi-if which meant we were guessing and we guessed wrongly which of the 6 exits for Chilliwack we should have taken and the one we did take we went north rather than south. A garden centre cafe wi-fi enabled me to find the route and within half an hour we were enjoying a beer or three and dinner.

The weather was, again, spectacular so as Raymas and Nalla were both keen walkers we were able to walk alongside the Vedder River in the setting sun. The salmon were running, so hence the fishermen trying their luck. So that's what I used for today's extra.

It seemed as if it had only been 30 days rather than 30 years since we'd last met. Children grown up and left home. But we had shared memories of good times in the past and so many things in common in our lives now. What a shame we live so far apart. An extremely tasty desert, gluten free crumble and plenty of blueberries rounded off the best of days.
