Mandolin

My mandolin, one of the first made by MrM. It has a lovely 'sun' tailpiece.

Had it for over 10 years now, and I'm still learning to play it! It would help, of course, if I spent more time practising, but always there are so many other things to do - reading, gardening, dancing (not nearly as much as I'd like these days) to list a few...

Much as MrM is under some illusion that I will turn in to a musician one day, I fear that I lack the necessary gene! No, I really can't tell whether a tune is in the key of G or D just by listening to it. If only! And I can't tune the mandolin 'by ear'. But I still enjoy playing this lovely instrument, even though I've only learned a few tunes and play them rather slowly and hesitantly.
