Sunrise

I am not often up before the sun. But today we left Seattle at 6:40 for the island (2 hr 20 min drive, 50 min ferry, 15 min drive on Galiano Is, 15 min small boat ride to our little island). The sky was AMAZING. I do remember a few(!) years ago when I did go out rowing in the boat in the dark that watching the sun rise was sometimes the best part, either on the misty lake, or glinting off the downtown buildings... The camera says this is 7:02, a few minutes before the the sun popped up. It is NOT a forest fire. Big clouds overhead, some fog beneath, and then this light. Then a fireball appeared with more amazing colors, hard to decide which to blip, but like the moon, it's so hard to capture the sun with everything else. And this was all out the window of the car going 60-70 mph. It will only get darker in the morning so I might see a few more of these.

Just here til monday to check on a few things since we won't be back til November. The fire hazard is extreme and we are hoping for some predicted rain. Today I painted the pieced together side of the little boat shed H built, just in case it does rain tonight...
