Gormley
Having lived in the North East for a long time, I am very familiar with Gormley's "Angel of the North", it always signified we were close to home. So in W.A. I was very keen to visit Lake Ballard, where Gormley installed 51 sculptures over an area of 10 square km. We travelled 132 kms on sealed roads and a further 51 kms on a dirt road to get there, it really is that remote. We only had time to see 6 or so of the sculptures and I was not disappointed, I would recommend it to anyone. Luckily for us it was not too hot when we were there and there had been rain the week before so it was a bit damp under foot. The "water" on the horizon is actually a mirage created by the salt glittering as it dried out.
