Meadowbank Velodrome
It could have ended so differently. But she declined the offer of lunch (Monday's are 6 hours for her; so if she takes lunch then she has to work quite a lot longer to make it worth her while)
Silver linings though. I popped onto the bike and had a wander down EH7 way. I mused about getting to Durham Road to seek out the reported sighting there on the Cigsflatbedtruck. But no sooner had I swung onto Abbeyhill than I screeched to a halt to admire a new one at the entrance to Croft an Righ. In purple! With Silver. Very glam rock.
I carried on; smile on my face, still harbouring thoughts of Durham Road when at Spring Gardens I again had cause to haul on the brakes. Another one! On the roller shuter between the shop and the Chinese take away. Similar colour scheme. Fuck....
By now all hope of reaching Durham Road had gone, so I swung down Windmill Lane, idly wondering if there was one there too... No such luck. But I popped out onto London Road, right opposite Meadowbank; so I figured I might as well have a look there. Which is where the blip was taken.
You can tell it's a Monday holiday for the schools I could hear kids messing about inside the velodrome; sadly the door that was open last week has been locked again but a bunch of them had obviously jumped in somewhere round the back. Still, I managed to get my shot, checked to see if the paint was dry (just). A solo effort; no Keft / Loud / Deli / can't remember the other recent ones. Gaudy too; orange, brown, pink and purple - reminded me of dahlias.
And then back to work. Just. sneaked in as the clock clicked on to 1401.... phew!
My legs are relieved at getting a break from the endless Musselburgh . Balerno pounding they've taken, treking from one side of the city to the other. Mental note - must check Straiton soon. Maybe on Friday...
