Red Leaves

A day of shopping and cooking today. Tonight we host the fabulous SH for dinner and given that she is such a brilliant cook, we weren't about to do Cottage Pie. We spent a good bit of this afternoon preparing all the things that could be coooked in advance and the flat smells utterly amazing.

While in the city centre I got to have a bit of a look round at the Stadtfest. And I thought to myself, this is not so different to all the other Fests that we have. There's eating and drinking going on all over, there are lots of stalls selling what can only be called tat and there are lots of stages where various dance schools put on displays. Some with a lot more enthusiasm than others.

And then there are the bands.

I can play no musical instrument and I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, but I know tuneless when I hear it. My goodness. Imagine the worst wedding band ever. They would get a gig here. Probably top billing. And you know what, it didn't seem to matter to anyone. People just got on with enjoying themselves. I really like that about the people here - so what if it's a rubbish rendition of Country Roads? At least they know the words and they get stuck in.

A timely reminder that I should lighten up a little. Duly noted.
