Tempus Fugit

This wonderful clock stands above the old Mechanics Institute and next door to the Old Courthouse in Cockermouth's Main Street. 

I have not been able to find how old it is, but it must date from at least the late 1800s. It still faithfully records the time, in spite of losing some of its numerals on the clockface fronting the street. The tower itself is sheathed in lead to keep out the elements.
