Now, given past circumstances, it should not be a great surprise that town planners want a large pile of The Right Forms and The Right Drawings even if all you want to do is fix something that a previous owner demolished - specifically this chimney.
Thus despite providing what seemed to E to be a more than adequate description and illustration of a plan to add about 40 bricks to a stack, we have not yet provided it in The Right Way. Thus today we spent a while measuring, and drawing elevations of, the East and North faces of the house.

In a parallel application to the council, that tree needs to come down. It's not in the best of health and growing large and very worrying mushrooms out of the trunk at the base. That, as such, is one issue; that it is 60ft high and leaning towards the house is another.
Interestingly, losing even such a large tree won't impact the view much as it'll just open the the view to the larger one just behind it.
But hey, more carving material...
