Scott Base, Farewell Spit!

TeeJay and I did what for us is a mammoth walk today. Our walks so far have been 5km or thereabouts. Today we did a walk before lunch at Milnethorpe and then after lunch on the Spit we decided to walk along the beach and then of course we had to go across the Spit too. How many times do you get to be on the East and the West Coast of NZ in the space of a few (!!!) minutes?
Have to say by the end of the 8kms I was generally buggered but was worth the effort.
This is the scene on the West Coast of Farewell Spit. It was a pretty barren looking place and reminded me very much of a moonscape or Antarctica. (Hence the title) Thought the other two nutters who walked across made the shot :-))))
