National Day of Catalonia - la Diada
La Diada is a long day festival that commemorates the fall of Barcelona during the war of the Spanish Succession in 11 September 1714. Traditionally, people go to the streets with their Catalan flags and there are different events all around the city. This year it had more of an independence twist than usual due to recent tensions with the central government. One million people went to the streets and there were no violent incidents whatsoever, which I am very proud of.
This was the tenth day of my holidays, spent mostly with my family. We had a family gathering and then me and some of my sisters went into town to soak in the atmosphere. Unfortunately, due to my photography passion, I managed to loose my sisters in the big crowd. After a while looking for them though, I had to give up and go back home. Oh well, these things happen. I took many photos so the decision was difficult for this particular day.
As you can see the weather was lovely; however, it didn't last long... just my luck. there seemed to be a cloud that was following me everywhere!
