Another wasted Sunday

I used to enjoy taking John to football on a Sunday morning. We've been doing it for over 10 years, but now it's got to Under 16 level the matches are mainly ill-tempered affairs with petulant teenage boys arguing with each other and with the ref.

Today we had to trek all the way over to Friern Barnet for a 12.00 kick off. That meant leaving home at 10.15 in order to have the boys there in time for the pre-match warm up.

This was just about the only decent attempt they had on goal - a shot from a free kick which went wide. We lost 4-0 and didn't get home until 2.30 so that's the best part of the day gone.
