Dubh Lochan

A 10mile walk to visit this little Loch , through some beautiful hillside and past Brockets Monument. Lord Brocket was the absentee landlord in the 1930's and supporter of Hitler. He was actually at his 50th birthday celebrations. After the war the 7 Men of Knoydart tried to take and reclaim some of the land, hopeful that the new Labour Govr would support these war veterans but the law favoured Brocket and they were turfed out. Now Knoydart is owned by the residents - the Knoydart Foundation since 1999 and had got rid of the absentee landlords forever. A real success story here as in Assynt and Eigg
