Dinan

Another day another French city, this time Dinan south of St Malo on the river Rance, accessed by bus from St Malo.
We had thought to travel by boat, but because of the low water level, the next trip was not until October 13th.

Dinan is such a picturesque little place with its iconic steep cobbled street from the market square down to the river and port. If you remember the Hovis advert with the baker's boy pushing his bike up an old street in England, then you get the picture, although the Rue du Jerzual is probably narrower and steeper.

Once down by the water's edge, we shared our space with the fitter younger tourist members.
After the hurly burly inside the walls of St Malo yesterday, it was peaceful and relaxing to sit and enjoy a coffee, watching the world go by, before the obligatory crêpe with lemon and sugar.
I saw a red wine being drunk at the other side of the table while I had cider from the orchards we had passed en route.
As the sun shone on us, His Lordship was heard to remark that it was like being on holiday. And so it was.
