Police Checkpoint

We drove to Kitwe, about 50km from us, for dentist appointment today.

Blipped the 'Police Checkpoint' just on the outskirts of our Town. You are not allowed to take photos, you will get arrested, so you'll have to be satisfied with the drums, which are the sign that you've entered the 'Point' and the long row of waiting vehicles, and of course the poor quality of photo, being snapped from the backseat of our car!

The Luanshya Bakery Truck is specially for Ina's Snippets's hubby, Mr Snippets!
They stop each car leaving or entering the town. When you travel to Lusaka, you encounter about six of these.

At these checkpoints your Car's License and Insurance get checked, your Driver's License and sometimes your Work Permit and Temporary Resident's Permits. They do spot checks on your car for roadworthiness sometimes as well.

Some good news though! Seems like our VISA payment for the flight tickets on Zambian Airways was not claimed, so the bank was able to reverse the transaction! Still feeling very sorry for the people who paid cash and those who are stranded!
