Today was unexpectedly a magical midsummer day. It's taken a few mistakes over the years to learn that when the sun shines here, just go with the moment. So Hubs and I got out on our bikes for a lovely 22km ride along the North coast road of The Mizen Head peninsular. Half way along we took an unbelievably steep mountain road up to Sheehans Pass which I attacked with unusual gusto and was almost sick by the time I got to the top, but the view was worth the nausea! We dropped down to South side and ended up in the tiny village of Goleen at Denny O'Meara's for a pint of the black stuff in the sunshine, while we contemplated the aching quads.
My blip choice was vast today and one of the many 360 degree views from the summit nearly made it, but I liked this gentleman biker.
Mike and I were overtaken by the serious cyclist in the distance, who was polite enough to cycle and chat for a while before getting down to the serious business of putting in more speed than I could ever manage, so we watched him whizz off into the distance. Then in turn, we over took this wonderful elderly gentleman on his electric bike walking his dogs.
It was very quiet on the roads and this was possibly the busiest moment whilst we were on the North road!
