What a lovely day:-

to Salute Two Brave Airmen

On 1st October 1940 the aircraft Fairey Battle L5671 came down at this spot.

There were two eye witnesses who saw the events unfold at the time.  The remarkable thing is that seventy seven years later both Johnny and Geoffrey, those two eye witnesses, and seen here,  were able to make their way to the site.

There were two aircrew namely the pilot, Sergeant Stanislav Osmala and the drogue operator Aircraftsman 2nd class Arthur Sharp.  Sgt. Osmala  was buried at Jurby Church and his grave stone is still visible and  the grave is well tended.  I have never been able to find the grave of A/c.2 Sharp.  However I have learned today that it is possible that he was not buried on the Isle of Man.

It would be nice to know where he was laid to rest.

We were able to pay our respects.
