to Ramble

Clare Balding has visited our Isle and is presently publishing the results of her Ramblings on Radio 4.

Her first walk (accompanied by two Manx worthies who I happen to know) was in the North of the Island near Ballaugh and started at a place called Glen Dhoo (Black Glen).

Here you see a Tholtan  (abandoned dwelling) that was last occupied in the late 19th C.  The surrounding land is now owned by the Manx National Trust and is quite remarkable for its feeling of remoteness.

Needless to say I did not see anybody else.
