To TV or not to TV that is the question
Mr Mouse and I are looking at ways of saving money - obviously the TV is a target.
We currently have sky and were considering switching back to virgin now our sky contract is up. But do we really need premium TV and then why not go a step further do we need live TV which would then mean that we dont even need a TV licence:
The law states that you need to be covered by a TV Licence if you watch or record television programmes, on any device, as they're being shown on TV. This includes TVs, computers, mobile phones, games consoles, digital boxes and Blu-ray/DVD/VHS recorders.
You don't need a licence if you don't use any of these devices to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV - for example, if you use your TV only to watch DVDs or play video games, or you only watch 'catch up' services like BBC iPlayer or 4oD.
So this is Day 1 of Mouse experiment - No Live TV
The Sky box has to stay turned off
We can only watch - catch up, lovefilm, netflix, DVDs, Blue ray and play games.
(we are cheating a little bit there are things programmed to record on the sky the planner but we cant watch them until next week)
How do you think we will do?
