Wheal Coates
Anyone that watches Poldark may well recognise this part of Cornwall St Agnes and the old mines of Wheal( Cornish word for work) Coates. This area has so many old mines none are complete as they got dynamited to remove all the scrap metal from many of the engine houses.
Most of the engine houses sit on the cliff faces, and if you travelled the coast by boat you would also see a lot of mine shaft openings.
It's a bit scary not knowing where your walking as they travel so far underground and inland.
A lot of them are so old that records don't exist and it's only people discovering them.
We had a short trip to Perranporth and then ventured to a lesser known cove with yes a big hill but a nice beach here Roo enjoyed at good half hour sitting on the beach, a far cry from years ago when it's was stone throwing all the way for him.
I'm treasuring every minute with him.
